Rio Doce Gem Mine is located just off the gorgeous Blue Ridge Parkway. The family mining facility offers a variety of mining options, and offers assistance in helping you find gem material. Stones found at the Rio Doce include: ruby, emerald, citrine, aquamarine and rose quartz. Rio Doce features a Lapidary School where customers can cut their own stones to create jewelry pieces.
