Western North Carolina Festivals
Downtown Spruce Pine NC is the epicenter of Western North Carolina Festivals and heritage celebrations in the area drawing more
and more visitors to the Blue Ridge Mountains each year. Lemon Tree Inn visitors are encouraged to take advantage of these opportunities to learn more about the heritage of Spruce Pine North Carolina. Be sure to include a mountain festival in your North Carolina
Vacation.
Spring is kicked off with the annual, “Fire on the Mountain Blacksmith Festival” which attracts many blacksmiths from all over the
southeast to our mountain town nestled among the peaks of Mitchell County. Spruce Pine
is the ideal location for this
festival; the town is somewhat
of a blacksmith nexus. The
festival features more than 25 artists, exhibits, demonstrations, and hands-on opportunities.
The Roan Mountain Rhododendron Festival attracts many visitors each year to the Roan Mountain State Park at the foothills of the
Southern Appalachians. Roan Mountain is nearby
to Spruce Pine; a 25 mile scenic drive links the two mountain towns. The Rhododendron Festival has been continually celebrated for more than
50 years. The festival features gorgeous rhododendron, handmade craft vendors, food, and a variety of traditional folk music.
Independence Day is celebrated
with the Old Fashioned Patriotic
Celebration at the Burnsville Square. The full-day celebration includes food and game booths, local art and craft vendors, and demonstrations. Additionally, the celebration features live entertainment on stage.
The Mitchell County Chamber of Commerce sponsors the annual North Carolina Mineral & Gem Festival each summer. The annual event has gone on uninterrupted for more than
50 years. The four day festival features gem faceting demonstrations, jewelry and mineral specimens, historical mining exhibits, many dealers and dining opportunities.
The fiery amber color of the fall foliage is the most exquisite backdrop for the many visitors who come to the area for the Mineral City Heritage Festival in downtown Spruce Pine NC. The full-day celebration features live music that you’ll enjoy as you meander through craft vendors that have their wares on display for sale. The aroma of fresh apple butter and homemade apple pies fill the streets of downtown Spruce Pine.
